The guide shows more than 170 Australian Fungi species using full colour photography and comprehensible descriptions. It covers a cross section of the estimated 12,500 fungi species existing in Australia. Species were chosen to be characteristic for the relevant genera and families, with an emphasis on a wide distribution range throughout Australia. Some rarer and some undescribed fungi were included as to document these species and to raise awareness of the many undescribed Australian fungi. A pictorial identification key places fungi into categories using physical attributes such as different fertile surfaces, shape, consistency and at times odour.
